Why should you cut a lace front wig?
A lace front wig comes with a large lace strip that covers along the forehead. For a lace front wig the large lace strip would suit the majority of people, the wearers can cut the lace to make a perfect fit. You can let the wig blend to your skin seamlessly to achieve a natural and realistic appearance by trimming the front lace.Tools you will need
- A lace front wig (Here we take a long human hair straight lace front wig as an example)
- A wig head, T pins and clips (If you cut a lace front wig on a wig head)
- A wig cap, clips (If you cut a lace front wig on your head)
- A Rat tail comb (If your wig is a body wavy wig, loose deep wave wig or a kinky curly wig you also need a wide tooth comb)
- A bottle of mousse
- A pair of scissors
How to cut a lace front wig on a wig head?
1.Secure the wig on the wig head
Put the lace front wig on the wig head by using T pins to avoid the front lace area that needs to be cut.2.Comb and clip all hair backward
Detangle your wig hair then comb and clip all hair back out of the way. Use the mousse to keep the hair in place.3.Cut the extra lace
If the wig forehead hairline just fits your natural forehead hairline including the hairline above the ears, you can go straight to this step. Gently pull the wig with one hand, hold the scissors with the other hand and cut the front lace in a zig zag motion. The most important thing to know is that don’t cut the lace in a perfect straight line. You can cut about 0.5 cm-1 cm away from the wig hairline, the size according to your personal preference.If the wig hairline does not fit your natural hairline, the first step you’d better wear the wig on your head and trace your natural hairline on the front lace with an eyeliner. Then secure the wig on the wig head to cut along with the trace.
How to cut a lace front wig on your head?
1.Prepare your natural hair
Prepare your natural hair by putting it up as flat as possible then wear a wig cap to include all hair inside. If your hair is very long, you can braid the hair into cornrows and put all the hair up. Make sure all hair is inside the wig cap to avoid cutting your natural hair down that will be the last thing you want to see.2.Install the wig on your head
Put the wig on your head by holding the ear tabs, pull it forward make sure the wig hairline is just slightly in front of your natural hairline. Generally, the wig hairline should be about a quarter-inch forward from your natural hairline, the exact size can be adjusted according to your actual hairline.3.Comb and clip all hair back out of the way

Use an eyeliner to trace along your natural hairline in a curving line on the front lace. If the hairline above your ears is far below your natural hairline, you can use the rat tail comb to trace your natural hairline about 0.5 cm-1 cm below and use the eyeliner to mark the carving line.5.Cut the lace off
Use the scissors to cut the front lace into two or three sections to make the cutting easier. You can cut along with trace one section by one section. When it comes to cutting the ears, section out the piece along the trace, and let the hair you sectioned out fall down. Grab the piece and cut off the excess lace along the trace.Tips about how to cut a lace front wig
1. Using the mousse and clips to make all wig hair backward to avoid cutting the wig hair.2. If you cut a lace front wig on your wig, you’d better wear a wig cap to include all your natural hair inside it to avoid cutting your natural hair.
3. Don’t cut too much lace off! Leave 0.5 cm-1 cm lace right where the hairline starts.
4. Take your time and don’t be scared, you can try to cut one section of lace instead of the whole lace of the forehead hairline at once. Or you can start further back from the hairline and slowly cut more and more until you are pleased with how it looks.
5. You’d better buy a bleached knots wig with pre plucked natural hairline, otherwise, you must bleach the wig knots and pluck the wig hairline before you cut the front lace wig.
